Russell E. Clinage has a broad range of experience in residential construction, insurance law, real property law, business entities, and administrative law. He has focused his practice on the representation of builders, contractors, and insurance companies and has worked extensively with the Federal Risk Retention Act and its preemptive nature over state law. Russell has litigated a variety of construction matters, involving contracts, construction, Residential Construction Liability Act claims, insurance bad faith claims, federal and state arbitration claims, appellate court filings, contribution, indemnification claims, Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act claims, lien foreclosure, and administrative insurance claims. He has been successful in pursuing writs of mandamus, restraining orders, and injunctions. Russell has extensive knowledge in water treatment facilities, commercial construction, residential construction, soil mechanics, and structural engineering issues.
Russell has also been an adjunct professor of Civil Litigation, Evidence, Insurance and Tort Law, Introduction into Paralegalism, and Legal Research at the University of Texas at Arlington. He has given presentations to builders, contractors, and structural repair professionals on construction claims and disputes. He has also authored articles on areas of law of particular interests to the construction industry, including, but not limited to, the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and the Residential Construction Liability Act. Russell is currently of counsel with GUC&L and has been with the firm since July 2006.
